The short version

Solar Site Log stores everything on your phone. We do not have a server, we do not have your data, and there is no account to create. The only information that leaves your device is what the Google AdMob advertising SDK collects to show ads, and you can remove that entirely by purchasing premium.

Information we collect

We collect nothing. Solar Site Log has no backend, no analytics and no sign-in.

Everything you record — customers, sites, panel serial numbers, inverter details, commissioning readings, photographs, production estimates, invoices and payments — is stored locally on your device in an app-private database and app-private file storage. It is never transmitted to us, and we have no ability to read it.

Information collected by third parties

Google AdMob (advertising)

The free version of the app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. AdMob collects your device's Advertising ID, may infer approximate location from your IP address, and records interactions with ads in order to serve and cap them.

Google's handling of this data is governed by their own policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Google Play Billing

If you purchase a subscription or the lifetime unlock, the transaction is processed by Google Play. We never see your payment details. The app stores only whether premium is active.

Google Play (in-app updates)

The app asks Google Play whether a newer version exists, so it can prompt you to update.

Camera and photographs

When you photograph a panel label or site evidence, the app asks your installed camera app to take the picture and saves the result in the app's private storage.

Panel serial numbers are read on your device using Google ML Kit models bundled inside the app. Label photographs are never uploaded anywhere — the recognition happens locally, which is also why it works with no mobile signal.

The app does not request the Android CAMERA permission, and it does not request any location permission. Site coordinates are typed by you or filled from a built-in reference list of cities — your device's actual location is never read.

Notifications

The app uses notifications only for reminders you schedule yourself about upcoming site visits, and for the ongoing notification shown while an install timer is running. These are generated on your device. Nothing is sent to us.

Sharing reports

When you generate a handoff report, a net-metering data sheet or a CSV serial export, the file is created on your device and shared only when you explicitly choose to share it, to the app you pick. We never receive a copy.

Your data, your control

Children

Solar Site Log is a professional tool for solar installers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Accuracy of production estimates

Production figures are good-faith engineering estimates derived from long-run average solar resource data and standard industry loss assumptions. They are not guaranteed yields, and actual output varies with weather, soiling, shading and grid availability. The app is a record-keeping tool, not a substitute for professional system design, electrical certification, or compliance with local regulations.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date above and, where the change is significant, note it in the app's release notes.
