1. Introduction

PCOS Companion ("we", "our", "the app") is an offline, on-device menstrual-cycle and PCOS symptom log. It helps you record your cycles, symptoms, diet, supplements, lab results and basal body temperature, and prepares a doctor-ready summary you can share at appointments.

PCOS Companion is built to keep your reproductive and menstrual health data private. Your health data is stored only on your own device. It is never uploaded to us, never synced to any cloud, and never sold or shared with third parties. The app has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no server-side database.

By using PCOS Companion, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide (stored on-device only)

PCOS Companion stores the following information that you choose to enter, in a private database on your device. None of it is transmitted to us or to any cloud service:

• Menstrual cycle data — period start/end dates, cycle lengths, flow, and notes
• Symptom logs — acne, hirsutism, hair loss, mood, fatigue, bloating, cravings, sleep, skin tags, weight, and optional self-scores
• Diet logs — meals, carbohydrate/protein values, glycemic index/load notes, and an optional meal photo
• Lab results — values you enter for markers (such as hormone, glucose, insulin, and thyroid markers) along with the reference ranges you choose to record
• Supplement logs — supplements you track and your taken/skipped adherence records
• Basal body temperature (BBT) — temperature readings you enter
• Fertility-related inputs — only used to compute an informational, range-only estimate on-device; this feature is hidden entirely if you indicate you are using contraception
• Photos — an optional photo you may attach to a diet/meal entry, captured with your camera or chosen from your gallery, stored only in the app's private internal storage

This is sensitive reproductive- and menstrual-health information. It stays on your device under your control.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

PCOS Companion itself does not collect analytics or usage data — the app contains no analytics SDK. The third-party advertising and Google Play services described in Section 5 may collect limited technical data (see that section).

2.3 Information from Third-Party Services

PCOS Companion has no sign-in and no third-party login. We do not receive your email, name, or any profile information.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your on-device data is used solely to provide the app's features:

• Display your cycle history and compute descriptive cycle statistics (mean length, variability, and an "irregular" badge when your recorded cycles vary widely)
• Show an informational, range-only next-period and fertility estimate based only on your own entered dates
• Track diet, supplements, labs, symptoms, and BBT over time, including on-device charts
• Send local reminders you set up (e.g., supplement or logging reminders)
• Generate a doctor-ready PDF summary that you choose to export and share
• Process a one-time premium purchase via Google Play
• Display banner advertisements in the free version (see Section 5)

All of these operations run on your device. We do not see, receive, or process your health data.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage (the only place your data lives)

• Your entries are stored in a private database (pcos_companion.db) on your device.
• Meal photos are stored in the app's private internal storage.
• App preferences are stored locally on your device.
• This data is accessible only to the PCOS Companion app and is removed when you delete the data in-app or uninstall the app.

4.2 No Cloud Storage

• PCOS Companion does not use Firebase, any cloud database, or any backup server.
• There are no user accounts and no sign-in. Your reproductive and menstrual health data is never uploaded anywhere.
• We, the developer, have no ability to access your health data.

4.3 Exports You Initiate

• When you generate a PDF report or other export, the file is created on your device and shared only through the app/recipient you explicitly choose via the system share sheet. The PDF carries a "Personal log — not a medical record" footer.

4.4 Security Measures

• Your health data never leaves your device, eliminating cloud-transmission risk.
• The only network communication the app makes is for serving advertisements and standard Google Play services (billing, in-app updates), over HTTPS/TLS.
• Advertising requests never include your health data (see Section 5).

5. Data Sharing

5.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal or health information to third parties. We do not transmit your health data anywhere.

5.2 Third-Party Services

The free version of the app uses the following Google services, which may collect limited technical data for their own stated purposes. None of them receive your cycle, symptom, lab, supplement, BBT, diet, or fertility data.

The app does not include Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or any other analytics SDK.

5.3 Advertising and Sensitive-Audience Safeguards

Because PCOS is a sensitive health topic and people with PCOS are frequently targeted by predatory advertising, PCOS Companion applies extra ad-safety protections beyond what a typical free app does:

• Banner ads only. The app shows banner ads only on a limited set of content screens. It never shows full-screen interstitial or rewarded ads. No ads appear on the lab, symptom, fertility, report, settings, or premium screens.
• Family-safe content rating. Ad requests are globally restricted to a maximum content rating of "G" (general audiences).
• Non-personalized ad requests. Every ad request is sent as non-personalized (npa=1), which suppresses behavioral retargeting based on your activity (for example, weight-loss or fertility-clinic retargeting).
• Category exclusions. Ad requests include publisher exclusion signals to discourage advertising categories that are harmful or inappropriate for this audience — including weight-loss and diet pills, GLP-1/"Ozempic"-type promotions, dating, gambling, alcohol, body-shaming, and fertility-clinic ads.
• Your health data is never used to target ads. No cycle, symptom, lab, diet, supplement, BBT, or fertility information is ever included in an ad request.

You can further limit ad personalization through your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads), and the premium version removes all advertisements.

6. Health Data

6.1 Health Information

PCOS Companion handles sensitive reproductive- and menstrual-health information, including menstrual cycle dates, fertility-related inputs, symptoms, basal body temperature, lab values, diet, and supplement use.

6.2 Health Data Protection

• All of your health data is stored locally on your device only.
• It is never uploaded, synced, backed up to a server, or shared with us or any third party.
• It is never used for advertising and is never included in ad requests.
• There are no accounts, so there is nothing for an attacker to access on our side — we hold none of your data.

6.3 Medical Disclaimer

PCOS Companion is a personal log, organizer, and reminder tool. It is NOT a medical device, diagnostic tool, or a substitute for professional medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, monitor, or prevent PCOS or any other condition.

• The "irregular cycle" badge is descriptive math computed from the dates you enter — it is not a diagnosis.
• Next-period and fertility estimates are informational, range-only values derived solely from your own entries. They must not be used as a method of contraception or to confirm or rule out pregnancy. The fertility feature is hidden entirely when you indicate you use contraception.
• Lab reference ranges are values you enter; out-of-range flags are arithmetic comparisons, not medical interpretation.
• Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for any medical decision.

7. Photos and Images

• A photo is captured or selected only when you explicitly choose to attach one to a diet/meal entry.
• Photos are stored in the app's private internal storage on your device and are never uploaded or shared automatically.
• The camera is accessed through your device's camera app via a system intent; the app does not request a standalone camera permission and does not access your photos in the background.
• You can delete any photo from within the app at any time.

8. Children's Privacy

PCOS Companion is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app stores all data locally and has no accounts, no personal information is transmitted to us in any case.

9. Your Rights and Choices

9.1 Access and Control

• All your data is visible and editable within the app at any time.
• You can edit or delete any entry directly.
• You can export your log as a PDF for your own records.

9.2 Data Deletion

• Delete individual entries in-app, or clear your data through the app's settings.
• Uninstalling the app permanently removes all locally stored data, including the database and any photos.
• Because we never receive your data, there is no server-side copy to request deletion of.

9.3 Notifications

• You can enable or disable reminders within the app, and control notifications through your device settings at any time.

9.4 Ad Preferences

• The premium (one-time) purchase removes all advertisements.
• You can limit ad personalization via your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads) and via the in-app consent form.

10. GDPR Compliance (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK, you have additional rights:

• Right to access — your data is fully visible in the app; SDK-collected technical data (ads, billing) can be requested from the relevant Google service.
• Right to rectification — edit any entry directly in the app.
• Right to erasure — delete entries in-app or uninstall to remove all local data; we hold no copy of your health data.
• Right to restrict processing — decline personalized ads via the consent form.
• Right to data portability — export your log as a PDF at any time.
• Right to object — object to ad-related processing via the consent form.

The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent for advertising in compliance with GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at muhammadilyas15@gmail.com.

11. Data Retention

We keep your information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy.

• All of your entries stay on your device. We operate no server for this data and never receive a copy of it, so there is nothing for us to retain. Your data is kept until you delete the individual entry, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes all of it from the device.
• Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) — automatically deleted after 90 days.
• Support emails — if you contact us, your message is retained for up to 24 months after your enquiry is resolved, then deleted.
• Purchase records — retained by Google Play for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law. We do not hold separate copies.

12. Data Deletion — How to Delete Your Data

You can delete your data at any time. Delete individual entries Open any entry in the App and tap Delete. It is removed immediately from the device. Uninstall Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data from your device. Request deletion by email If you cannot access the App, or you want written confirmation that your data has been erased, email us at muhammadilyas15@gmail.com with the subject line "PCOS Companion – Data Deletion Request". We will verify the request, delete all associated data, and confirm by email within 30 days. There is no charge for this.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" above and posting a notice within the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
