CareerKit AI ("we", "our", "the app") is a career development application that helps users build professional resumes, generate AI-powered cover letters, prepare for interviews with mock practice sessions, track job applications, and research companies. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

By using CareerKit AI, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Personal Information: Full name, email address, phone number, physical address, city, and country (entered in the resume builder)
• Professional Profiles: LinkedIn URL, GitHub URL, personal website URL
• Resume Content: Work experience, education history, skills, certifications, projects, languages, and professional summary
• Cover Letters: Job titles, company names, preferred tone, and generated cover letter content
• Job Applications: Company names, job roles, application status, salary ranges, follow-up dates, notes, and job posting URLs
• Interview Preparation: Job titles, company names, your answers to AI-generated interview questions
• Company Research: Company names you search for
• Contact Form: Subject line and message text when contacting support

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device model, manufacturer, Android version, and app version (included in crash reports and support emails)
• App Usage Analytics: Screen views, button interactions, and feature usage patterns via Firebase Analytics
• Crash Reports: Stack traces, device state, and error logs when the app crashes

2.3 Information from Third-Party Services

• Google Sign-In: Email address, display name, and Firebase User ID when you sign in with your Google account

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Build and export professional resumes as PDF files
• Generate AI-powered cover letters, interview questions, resume enhancements, and company research using Google Gemini
• Track your job applications and send follow-up reminder notifications
• Sync your data across devices via cloud backup (when signed in)
• Display relevant advertisements to free-tier users
• Process premium subscription and lifetime purchases
• Improve app performance and fix crashes via crash reporting
• Analyze app usage to improve features and user experience

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

• Your data is stored locally on your device using a Room SQL database
• Resume data, cover letters, job applications, interview sessions, CV analyses, and company research are stored locally
• App preferences (theme, premium status, AI usage counter) are stored in SharedPreferences
• Generated PDF resumes are stored in the app's private cache directory

4.2 Cloud Storage

• If you sign in with Google and enable cloud sync, your resumes, cover letters, and job applications are stored on Google Firebase Firestore servers
• Cloud data is organized under your unique user ID and is only accessible with your credentials
• Cloud data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest by Firebase

4.3 AI Processing

• When you use AI features (cover letter generation, interview practice, resume enhancement, company research), your resume content, job descriptions, and answers are sent to Google Gemini API for processing
• Google Gemini processes this data to generate responses; it is not retained by the app after the response is received
• AI-generated content is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to Firestore

4.4 Security Measures

• All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Cloud data is protected by Firebase security rules scoped to authenticated users
• Authentication via Google Sign-In (industry-standard OAuth 2.0)
• No passwords are stored by the app (authentication is delegated to Google)
• Release builds use code obfuscation (ProGuard) and resource shrinking

CareerKit AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Control

• You can view all your data within the app at any time
• You can edit or delete any resume, cover letter, job application, interview session, or company research entry
• You can export your resumes as PDF files for your records

7.2 Account and Data Deletion

• You can sign out at any time from Settings
• You can delete all cloud data using the "Delete Account Data" option in Settings, which removes all resumes, cover letters, and applications from Firestore
• Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data

7.3 Cloud Sync

• Cloud backup and sync is optional and requires explicit Google Sign-In
• You can sync data manually from Settings
• You can restore previously synced data from Settings

7.4 Notifications

• Follow-up reminder notifications can be controlled through your device Settings
• You can disable notifications at any time

7.5 Ad Preferences

• Premium subscription or lifetime purchase removes all advertisements
• You can opt out of personalized ads via device settings (Settings > Google > Ads)

8. GDPR Compliance (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights:

• Right to access — request a copy of your data
• Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — request deletion of your data (use "Delete Account Data" in Settings or email us)
• Right to restrict processing — limit how we use your data
• Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable format (PDF export available)
• Right to object — object to data processing for marketing

The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain consent for data processing and personalized advertising in compliance with GDPR.

9. Data Retention

We keep your information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy.

• Data stored on your device — retained until you delete the individual entry, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes all locally stored data from the device.
• Cloud backup data (only if you signed in) — retained for as long as you keep it, so it is available when you reinstall or switch devices. It is erased as soon as you delete it in the App or ask us to delete it (see the Data Deletion section). We do not keep backup copies of deleted cloud data for longer than 30 days, after which deletion is permanent and irreversible.
• Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) — automatically deleted after 90 days.
• Analytics data (Firebase Analytics) — retained in aggregated, non-identifying form for a maximum of 14 months, then automatically deleted.
• Support emails — if you contact us, your message is retained for up to 24 months after your enquiry is resolved, then deleted.
• Purchase records — retained by Google Play for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law. We do not hold separate copies.

10. Data Deletion — How to Delete Your Data

You can delete your data at any time. Delete individual entries Open any entry in the App and tap Delete. It is removed immediately, from both the device and the cloud. Delete your account and all cloud data Go to Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes all data stored in the cloud under your account and signs you out. This cannot be undone. Uninstall Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data from your device. Request deletion by email If you cannot access the App, or you want written confirmation that your data has been erased, email us at muhammadilyas15@gmail.com with the subject line "CareerKit AI – Data Deletion Request", including the account email address you used to sign in. We will verify the request, delete all associated data, and confirm by email within 30 days. There is no charge for this.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

• Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy
• Posting a notice within the app

Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
